The story

Petri was born and raised in Finland, which gave him a different perspective on life. "When you step outside in the morning, the sky is still pitch black, except for some incredible northern lights, and it's minus 25 degrees, you know the day will be different from waking up in Southern California." After dabbling with various things there, he felt a call to move to Los Angeles, where he met his Savior, Jesus Christ, at The Church On The Way, and ended up playing guitar in pastor Jack Hayford's services while becoming a newly minted worship leader for the church's Young Adults group. "It was a great time of learning about God and worship, I remember we fondly called the set list a "suggestion sheet," as we would follow God's leading on the weekends, switching songs on the spot. It was a great way to learn to trust leaders and serve with all you got."

A few years later, when he was preparing for the day, came life-changing words he heard God speak quietly into his heart, "This world has all the music it will ever need, my people need music." It was a turning point. Petri abandoned pursuing secular music for God's call. "The songs started coming, and I've had a hard time keeping up! Whenever I ask for more, God pours out a bunch, and I use whatever is at hand to start recording. He's so faithful!" Since then, Petri has written several worship songs that have been cherished at Crescenta Valley Church, where he led worship for 15 years. In 2015, his single, "Never Fade Away," became the staff pick at Worshipsong.com and won Best Christian Alternative Song at The Akademia Music Awards.

""Never Fade Away" is a passionate song about God's unchanging and eternal love. It helps the worshiper recognize His continuous presence in their life all the way to their last breath, only to wake up in heaven with Jesus smiling to welcome them. I hope that many churches will be blessed by it."

2016 brought new winds. First, CVCHURCH released "Alive & Well," an acoustic EP of Petri's songs, which you can hear by clicking here. After the release, Petri and his family followed God's call to Louisville, KY to start working at Southeast Christian Church's worship department. He plays electric guitar at weekend services at the church with an attendance of 24,000. Petri is also continuing as a worship leader, songwriter and artist. His latest collaboration is playing electric guitar with Iron Bell Music, whose first album, "God That Saves," hit #7 on the iTunes Christian Charts.

Petri resides in Louisville, KY with his wife Karoliina and loves being a dad to their two kids, son Miro and daughter Tea. Their shelties, Dora & Lance, make sure that the herd stays together and that the party keeps going strong...
